Join the El Dorado County Amateur Radio Club (EDCARC) as we hold our annual activation of the Big Hill summit WS/NS-290 and Park El Dorado National Forest K-4455. At the event, you can learn about the SOTA (Summits on the Air) and POTA (Parks on the Air) programs and see examples of stations used for these activities.
The Big Hill summit has great views of the Crystal Basin and Sacramento Valley and is a great location to test the range of your handheld radio transceivers.
Bring your portable radio gear, folding chair, picnic lunch, and sunscreen.
Directions:
Highway 50 East from Placerville for ~21 miles to Ice House Road.
North on Ice House Road for 9.9 miles to Big Hill Road
West on Big Hill Road 2.4 miles to Big Hill Lookout
